My belief in philosophical concepts is:
The Tao is the Source, and
God is Ultimate Yang - the Life Force
Goddess is Ultimate Yin - Nature

Well, the epithet Phoebus in Roman and Greek mythology refers to the god Apollo, and oftentimes to the sun itself. Tweak the gender and you've got your pet name. Phoebe translates literally as "the (female) shining one", and was also the name of one of the Titans (the "elder gods" that gave birth to most of the Olympian gods).

I dont know if this classes as folklore but the town/area where i live has a pet name for the sun. they call "her" phoebe! ...it used to be a farming community long ago, then when the railroads came it became a center for enginnering. i think it could be from back in the farming days. does anyone know how old the name phoebe is? Tc folks ;)
